Grants

The Waterford Foundation was founded in 1984 for the sole purpose of providing necessary private funding to the Waterford School District. Since then, literally thousands of Waterford students have benefited from innovative curricular programs and cultural opportunities not currently provided through the public school system. Foundation grants have financed research and equipment; special materials and teaching aids; computer, science, and mathematics workshops; guest lecturers; and a diversity of outstanding instructional projects and programs. The Foundation's annual educational awards and critically acclaimed programs further enrich the youth and professional educators who are so vital to our collective future.

The Foundation's cumulative grants have reached nearly $700,000, a direct result of Foundation fundraisers and the generous support of educators, businesses, and citizens committed to the future of public education in Waterford. The Foundation provides no funds for teacher salaries. Teachers volunteer their time or conduct Foundation projects during regular school hours. Despite this fact, the amount contributed by school employees has grown each year because they fervently support Waterford Foundation's vital purpose and goals.

The Foundation's Board of Directors and the Grants Committee disseminate guidelines for project funding, review grant proposals, and determine the funding of such proposals. Awards are based on the quality of the request and the potential benefits students will derive from the plan. The Foundation makes a difference--a profound difference--by helping turn today's dreams into tomorrow's reality...today's bright young students into tomorrow's brilliant leaders.
